The Land Rover DC100 concept

The Land Rover DC100 concept will feature at the Frankfurt motor show in September - and the impressive design proposal could form the basis of the replacement for the ever popular iconic Land Rover Defender..

DC100 Defender

At present in concept form, the DC100 will take off where the predecessor left off, living up to the off road legacy. Gerry McGovern, director of design for Land Rover, stated: "Replacing the iconic Defender is one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world; it is a car that inspires people worldwide. The DC100 isn't a production-ready concept, but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century."

Little is known about the DC100's features, but the details of the design are visible from the photographs offered by Land Rover. It is a sleeker looking 4x4, certainly so when you compare it to the existing model. The unique headlights set it a part from the other vehicles on the automobile world, giving it a rather delicate feel to car that can be driven any terrain. While the old model was heavy, this one seems much lighter, offering minimalist design with utmost results.

Automobile experts expect that the vehicle will go on sale some time in 2015, with the model currently only being produced for the European market.

Norway Land Rover collection saved November 26th 2010
The two Land Rover specialists have jointly bought the collection, which includes various Series Ones, a One-Ton 109in and a huge variety of rare models including fire engines, ambulances and a Cuthbertson tracked vehicle in excellent condition. They were all stored in property at Sandnes near Stavanger in the south-west of the country and were due to be auctioned on December 4. Any which remained unsold at that auction would have been scrapped.

Some of the vehicles, which were being disposed of by the local police, are being transported back to the UK and many will come up for sale to enthusiasts next Summer. However, because of the immense task – and cost – of shipping every vehicle, some will be disposed of shortly in Norway. You can view this collection on-line and deal on the vehicle you require from Wednesday 1st December to Sunday 5th December 2010. This will be on a first-come first-served basis. Prices from £200 upwards.

Pictures of the collection can be seen here

King George VI Land Rover From Balmoral
After 50 years when Lew Gostling originally was comissioned to trim this special Land Rover it has gone full circle and we are all very proud to restore the interior again. Julian Gostling Managing Director persuaded his father Lew that he should be the one to do it again.

You can see from pictures the seats arrived in quite a state. We did all pull Lew's leg that if he had done it better 50 years ago he wouldn't have to do it again!
After many hours of work carefully taking the seat apart, all foam that could be saved was and built up again to restore some life into it and all frames were used again as these had survived well.
And you can see the finished article!
The vehicle will be part of the Land Rover 60th anniversary line up.
